The 6 Days Machame Route Kilimanjaro Trekking, known as the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most scenic and rewarding paths to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m). Trekkers experience rainforest, moorlands, alpine desert, and finally the icy summit zone. Suitable for moderate fitness levels, this route offers a high summit success rate.
Start your trek at Machame Gate. Hike through lush rainforest with giant ferns and moss-covered trees. Reach Machame Camp for the first night. Duration: 6–7 hours.
Ascend through moorland, passing valleys and ridges to reach Shira Plateau. Enjoy the panoramic views and acclimatize. Duration: 4–6 hours.
Trek to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp via ridges. "Climb high, sleep low" helps improve summit chances. Duration: 6–7 hours.
Climb the Barranco Wall, then continue along alpine ridges to Karanga Camp. Duration: 4–5 hours.
Trek across high desert landscapes to Barafu Camp, base for the summit push. Rest and prepare for the midnight ascent. Duration: 3–4 hours.
